The Kansas City Chiefs made it official on Wednesday and ended safety Eric Berry's season by placing him on injured reserve.

Berry suffered a knee injury, reportedly a torn ACL, during Sunday's opening game against Buffalo. The fifth overall pick of the 2010 draft started all 16 games in his first NFL season and collected 92 tackles with four interceptions, returning one 54 yards for a touchdown.

The Chiefs filled the roster spot with safety Reshard Langford, who appeared in six games during the previous two seasons with Kansas City. He has recorded eight special teams tackles for the club.
