The NFL suspended Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams without pay for the first two games of the 2011 season and fined him an additional two games checks for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.

Williams will begin his suspension on Saturday, September 3. He will be eligible to return to the Vikings' active roster on Monday, September 19.

Williams tested positive for a banned diuretic back in 2008. He was fighting the case in court but gave up earlier this year.

The Vikings start the season with games against San Diego and Tampa Bay.
