San Diego, CA – The San Diego Padres claimed pitcher Jeff Fulchino off outright waivers from the Houston Astros on Thursday.
Fulchino, 31, is 1-4 with a 5.18 ERA in 36 relief appearances with the Astros this season. In 160 career games over parts of five major league seasons with the Marlins, Royals and Astros, the 31-year-old righty has compiled a 9-10 record and a 4.47 ERA.
To clear room on the roster, San Diego designated pitcher Pat Neshek for assignment.
In 25 games over four stints with the Padres this season, Neshek has gone 1-1 with a 4.01 ERA.
