Norman, OK – Safety Roy Williams, who spent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals, has decided to join the radio team of his alma mater.
The Norman Transcript revealed on Wednesday that Williams will be featured on the Oklahoma Sooners broadcasts as pregame show host, sideline reporter for home games and analyst for selected road games.
Williams has not officially retired from the NFL, but reportedly turned down a contract offer from a west coast franchise in order to make the transition from the field to the booth.
A resident of Oklahoma City, Williams was part of the Sooners' 2000 national championship squad. He departed following his junior season in 2001, and was Dallas' eighth-overall selection in the 2002 draft.
He posted 599 tackles, 20 interceptions (including three returned for touchdowns) and 7 1/2 sacks in 114 games with the Cowboys and Bengals over nine NFL campaigns.
Last season in Cincinnati, he totaled 59 tackles, one sack and one pick in 12 contests.
