New-look Toronto host contending RSL

Toronto, ON – When Toronto FC fell to Real Salt Lake 3-1 on June 25th at Rio Tinto Stadium, the Canadian club featured a much different lineup.

Since that match, Toronto has made several key acquisitions. Danny Koevermans, Torsten Frings, Terry Dunfield, Ryan Johnson, and Eric Avila have all joined mid-season and featured prominently for the club.

While the new faces in the lineup will undoubtedly need time to build chemistry together, they have already yielded two-straight draws. Toronto sits in eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 20 points from 25 matches.

Toronto goalkeeper Stefan Frei, one of the mainstays in the club's starting eleven this season, has played every minute of every regular season game so far in 2011.

But after sustaining a slight injury during in training this week, he looks set to miss Saturday's tilt with Real Salt Lake.

"He got a kick in his leg, but it is nothing that is going to take weeks. But [Saturday]? Probably not," head coach and technical director Aron Winter told reporters after Friday's training at BMO Field. "We're going to try to let him play [Saturday], but the possibility is big that he���s not going to get it."

Milos Kocic will likely get the nod in goal if Frei is unable to play. Kocic has played in two CONCACAF Champions League matches for Toronto this season, both resulting 2-1 wins.

Real Salt Lake, meanwhile, has had to cope with losing Jamison Olave, who suffered a knee injury in the MLS All-Star Game.

Salt Lake lost the two matches immediately following the All-Star Game before defeating a struggling Red Bull New York team 3-0 at Rio Tinto.

Head coach Jason Kreis was adamant that the team's struggles following the All-Star game were not a result of losing Olave, but rather a deviation from the club's traditional style of play.

"There's a methodology about who we are, and there are very clear definitions about when we want to win the ball and where we want to win the ball," Kreis said after the match against New York. "I felt like we got away from that in the last two games and got very loose with our discipline, and so [vs. New York], it was really rewarding to see the guys take that message on board and come through big time."

Real Salt Lake occupy fifth place in the West with 36 points, it has played four less games than the Colorado Rapids, who sit in fourth with 37 points.
