PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Jason Williams to a one-year, US$600,000 contract Tuesday.

Williams, 30, is a 10-year NHL veteran who played 27 games with Dallas last season, scoring five points. The five-foot-11, 192-pound right-winger has also played for Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, and Atlanta.

Williams was a member of the Red Wings' 2001-02 Stanley Cup championship squad, appearing in nine playoff games that spring.

He had his best season in 2005-06 with Detroit, posting career highs in games played (80), goals (21), assists (37), and points (58).

Williams is a native of London, Ont., and has appeared in 447 career regular-season games, having accumulated 225 points, including 93 goals.
