The Anaheim Ducks added a second former member of the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday with the announcement they have agreed with goaltender Jeff Deslauriers to a two-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.
Earlier Tuesday, the Ducks acquired restricted free agent Andrew Cogliano from the Oilers in exchange for a future second-round draft pick.
The 27-year-old Deslauriers was a second-round pick of Edmonton in the 2002 Entry Draft and has posted a 20-31-4 record with a 3.27 goals-against average and .901 save percentage in 58 games with the Oilers over parts of the past two seasons.
Deslauriers made his NHL debut with the Oilers early in the 2008-09 season, earning his first win with 26 saves in a 4-3 over Calgary on Oct. 17, 2008. He recorded his first NHL shutout on Nov. 23, 2009, stopping all 36 shots he faced in a 4-0 Edmonton win over Phoenix. Deslauriers strung together a career-high five consecutive wins from Dec. 3-12, 2009, with a 1.94 GAA and .938 save percentage during that stretch.
A native of St. Jean-Richelieu, Quebec, Deslauriers appeared in 35 contests with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2010-11, posting a 17-13-4 record with a 2.81 GAA, .906 save percentage and three shutouts. Deslauriers teamed with veteran Martin Gerber, helping to backstop the Barons to a 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs appearance.
