NEW YORK (Reuters) - The St. Louis Blues signed 400-goal scorer Jason Arnott and fellow veteran Jamie Langenbrunner to one-year contracts in a bid to add experience to their young roster, the National Hockey League (NHL) team said on Wednesday.
Arnott, entering his 18th NHL season, has 400 goals and 504 assists in 1,172 games with the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals and New Jersey Devils, where he won a Stanley Cup in 2000.
"Jason is a veteran forward and a Stanley Cup champion who will be a valuable addition to our club," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. "He's a proven leader and we are excited that he has decided to wear the Bluenote."
Arnott, 36, started last season with the Devils but was shipped to the Washington Capitals at the trade deadline in February and finished with 17 goals and 14 assists.
The 35-year-old Langenbrunner won the Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999 and with the Devils in 2003. He scored nine goals and 23 assists in 70 games with New Jersey and Dallas last season, and has 638 points in 1,035 career games.
"We're excited to add a veteran forward with two Stanley Cup rings to our roster," added Armstrong. "Jamie is a solid player who will bring years of NHL experience on and off the ice for our hockey club."
