VANCOUVER - You can bet on whether Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo will be given the hook in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final but at least one oddsmaker has stopped taking wagers on the Conn Smythe Trophy winner.
"Even though we would like to reopen the odds to win the Conn Smythe Trophy it is one of those situations where people who vote on it in the media have already hinted that Tim Thomas will win even if the Bruins lose and when situations like this occur it becomes very hard to monitor and (we) would rather not risk it," Bodog sportsbook manager Adam Burns said in a statement.
The betting website is offering 5-1 odds that Luongo gets replaced by another goaltender during the game (excluding injury).
The Sportsbook at the Venetian in Las Vegas favours the Canucks to win Wednesday, making them minus-160 — meaning you have to bet $160 to make a $100 profit. The Venetian has the Bruins at plus-140 — a $100 bet will net $140 profit.
Bodog had the Canucks at minus-150 and the Bruins at plus-130.
Nevada sportsbooks usually do not make odds on hockey's playoff MVP, a spokesman for the Venetian said.
Bodog has not shortage of available bets, including who will be the first player their respective captains will pass the Cup to if they win.
The Bruins favourite is Thomas to be the first to get the trophy from Zdeno Chara. And not surprisingly the odds favour Henrik Sedin passing the Cup to brother Daniel.
