The St. Louis Blues announced Tuesday that forward Patrik Berglund has been signed to a two-year extension.

"Patrik took his game to another level this season and followed it up with an outstanding performance in the World Championships," Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. "We expect him to be a major component of the Blues and continue to advance in this league."

The 22-year-old Berglund set career highs with 22 goals and 30 assists this past season. In three years with St. Louis he has scored 56 goals and tallied 69 assists. He was drafted in the first round by the Blues with the 25th pick in the 2006 Entry Draft. Earlier this month he won a silver medal as a member of Team Sweden at the 2011 IIHF World Championship in Slovakia, where he was named to the tournament All-Star team.
