MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Owen Sound Attack left wing Garrett Wilson left his team's 3-1 loss Wednesday to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in the MasterCard Memorial Cup with an undisclosed injury after he was slammed into the glass by Majors left wing Chris DeSousa in the first period.
"As far as Garrett goes, when an athlete starts asking the same question over and over again, then that's room to have concern," Attack coach Mark Reeds said. "It's an unfortunate part of sport. It's something we have to deal with."
Wilson, a Florida Panthers prospect, scored 11 times during the OHL playoffs after scoring 40 goals during the regular season. His potential loss could be huge, as the Attack have played two games without center Joey Hishon, whose 24 points tied for the OHL postseason lead.
Owen Sound plays the Kootenay Ice in Thursday's tiebreaker game. The winner will face Mississauga in Friday's semifinal game.
Hishon, taken by the Colorado Avalanche with the 17th pick of the 2010 Entry Draft, suffered an undisclosed injury Saturday when Ice captain Brayden McNabb elbowed him in the face.
"Joey's day-to-day," Reeds said. "Truthfully, he's sitting in the dark in his room, so that doesn't bode well for him."
On Wednesday morning, Attack general manager Dale DeGray said that Hishon had passed a baseline test earlier this week, meaning the 19-year-old did not suffer a concussion. He added Hishon could return later in the tournament.
