PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Little-used Jason Giambi clobbered three homers and drove in seven runs to power the Colorado Rockies to a 7-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in a battle of division leaders on Thursday.
Giambi was inserted into the lineup as a late replacement for first baseman Todd Helton, who was suffering from back stiffness.
Giambi's first homer was a three-run drive in the first and he added two-run blasts in the third and fifth innings. He also struck out in his final two at-bats.
Prior to Thursday game, Giambi was batting just .115 with one home run and four RBI's in 26 plate appearances.
