PHILADELPHIA -- Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid has been taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in South Philadelphia for evaluation after going head-first into the end boards behind his own goal cage with 2:29 remaining in the first period.

As first reported by 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston, McQuaid will not return to Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Round between the Flyers and Bruins. McQuaid appeared to miss a check on Flyers forward Mike Richards to goalie Tim Thomas' right before losing his balance and crashing into the boards.

McQuaid lay on the ice for about a half-minute before finally being helped to the locker room.

McQuaid, who has 3 assists in eight playoff games this spring, earned 6:36 of ice time, took 2 shots and had 2 blocks before leaving the game.

Flyers goaltender Brian Boucher also left the game with nine minutes remaining in the second period due to an apparent injury and was replaced by Sergei Bobrovsky.
