TORONTO (Reuters) - Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Brett Cecil has been optioned to Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League following the left-hander's slow start to the Major League Baseball season, the team said on Thursday.

Cecil, 24, posted a 1-2 record in four starts this season with a 6.86 ERA. In those starts, he has allowed 24 hits in 21 innings with four home runs, 11 walks and 15 strikeouts.

The Blue Jays also said they have selected the contract of 35-year-old infielder Chris Woodward, who posted a .305 batting average with five doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs in 12 games with Las Vegas this year.
