Madrid says medical tests Friday ruled Ronaldo out for 10 to 15 days.
Madrid holds the away-goal advantage ahead of the March 16 second leg after drawing 1-1 at Lyon. Madrid hasn't reached the quarterfinals of Europe's top-tier competition since the 2004-05 season.
Ronaldo will miss Spanish league matches against Racing Santander and Hercules as a result of the setback.
