Landon Clement scored 33 points off the bench to lead North Carolina Central past South Carolina State 78-62 on Thursday night.

Clement made all 15 of his free-throw attempts and scored 21 second-half points for the Eagles (15-14), who trailed 45-44 with less than 10 minutes left to play.

N.C. Central used a 19-3 run that lasted just over 6 minutes to take a 63-48 lead with 3:42 to go.

C.J. Wilkerson added 14 points and Nick Chasten 11 for the Eagles, who shot 84.2 percent from the free-throw line (32 of 38).

The Bulldogs (9-21) shot 50 percent from the floor (24 of 48) and outscored N.C. Central 38-34 in the paint. But S.C. State committed 21 turnovers, leading to 24 points for the Eagles.

Darnell Porter scored 15 points and Presano Bell added 11 for S.C. State, which led 32-30 at halftime despite losing 15 first-half turnovers.
