Alabama State defeats Jackson State 63-53

Tremayne Moorer scores 16 points to lead Alabama State over Jackson State 63-53 on Thursday night.

Moorer was a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, including six in the final 44 seconds to help seal the Hornets' eighth-straight win.

The Tigers cut it to four, 56-52, with 46 seconds left before Alabama State (14-16, 11-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) went 7 of 8 from the foul line, sparked by Moorer.

The Hornets shot just 58.1 percent from the line for the game (18 of 31), but held Jackson State (15-14, 11-6) to 18 of 48 from the field. Alabama State shot 43.5 percent for the game (20 of 46).

Chris Duncan added 10 points for the Hornets, who outrebounded the Tigers 37-28 and forced 16 turnovers.

Tyrone Hanson led Jackson State with 21 points, and Jenirro Bush added 11.
