Darnell Porter scored 18 points and Brandon Riley added 14 to lead South Carolina State over Norfolk State 64-62 on Monday night.

The Bulldogs (8-19, 4-10 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led 63-59 after two free throws from Riley with 10 seconds on the clock. Pendarvis Williams knocked down a 3-pointer just 2 seconds later, closing the gap to 63-62.

Khalif Toombs hit 1 of 2 free throws and Brandon Wheeless missed a 3 as time expired, sealing the win for South Carolina State.

Presano Bell added 11 points and Rio Pitt grabbed 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who led 20-7 midway through the opening half.

South Carolina State led 31-28 at the break, but shot just 28 percent in the second half (7 of 25).

Kyle O'Quinn scored 14 points, Chris McEachin added 12 and Williams finished with 11 for the Spartans (8-18, 6-7), who have lost five of their last six.
