Evan Gordon and Jesse Sanders each scored 16 points, and Liberty defeated High Point 65-54 on Saturday night for its ninth straight home win in the series.

Sanders also had 11 rebounds and David Minaya added 13 points for the Flames (19-8, 13-2 Big South Conference), who are 13-1 at home all-time against the Panthers.

Liberty, which has won three in a row and eight of its past nine, led for most of the contest but could not pull away until late.

The Flames led 47-44 at the 6:40 mark, then went on 12-3 run to lead 59-47 at 2:59 after a dunk by Minaya. High Point would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Nick Barbour scored 21 points and Shay Shine added 13 for the Panthers (10-15, 6-9).

Liberty outrebounded High Point 42-26, but was outscored in the paint by the Panthers 32-22.
