Onalfo hired as assistant coach of Galaxy

CARSON, Calif. – Former D.C. United coach Curt Onalfo has been hired as an assistant coach of the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Onalfo, who played 13 games for the Galaxy in 1996, will coach the Los Angeles reserve team. He will be reunited with Bruce Arena, who hired Onalfo as an assistant with the U.S. national team from 2003-06.

Onalfo was head coach of Kansas City from 2007-09, then coached D.C. United last year until he was fired in August.

His hiring was announced Thursday.
