NEWARK, New Jersey (Reuters) - New Jersey Devils veteran winger Brian Rolston underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia and will miss 4-6 weeks, the team said on its website (devils.nhl.com/) on Thursday.

Rolston was placed on long-term injured reserve as the Devils also revealed that defenseman Mark Fraser has a fractured right hand and will be out for a similar length of time.

New Jersey responded to the injuries by calling up forwards Jacob Josefson and Tim Sestito along with defenseman Matt Corrente from their minor league affiliates to bolster the team's roster.
