NEW YORK (Reuters) - Injured Eli Manning of the New York Giants threw some passes on Wednesday but said he was not certain whether he would play in Saturday's exhibition game with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"We have to be smart and just see what's the best way of getting this 100 percent healed up."

The quarterback spent time on the field on Wednesday but did not practice with the team, the Giants said.

"I physically feel fine, I threw some balls, running around, I know what's going on and I'm all there so it's just a matter of getting the helmet on," Manning said.

The Giants do not want him to wear a helmet because it could cause the stitches to open.
