NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former Buffalo Bills defensive end Aaron Schobel has decided to retire following a nine-year career that included two Pro Bowl selections, the team said on Monday.
Schobel, who spent his entire career in Buffalo and ranks second on the team's all-time sacks list, was released by the Bills on August 4. He said he will make his decision official as soon as he receives retirement papers from his agent.
"For a while there I was going back and forth, but I was always sort of leaning that way and then I just said that enough was enough and decided that I wasn't going to (come back)," Schobel told the team's website. (http://www.buffalobills.com/)
The former second-round draft pick, whose 78 career sacks rank him second behind Hall of Famer Bruce Smith on the team's all-time list, also said he will not listen to offers if another team calls.
The 32-year-old Schobel, who led the team in sacks in each of his first seven seasons in the NFL, started all 16 games last season and registered 10 sacks.
