NEW YORK (Reuters) - Atlanta Braves pitcher Jonny Venters was suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount for throwing two consecutive pitches at slugger Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers in Saturday's game, MLB said on Monday.

Braves manager Bobby Cox was suspended one game for what baseball officials judged to be intentional actions by Venters, who hit Fielder in the back after he had belted a game-tying home run in his previous at-bat.

Cox will sit out the Braves' home game Tuesday against the San Diego Padres. Venters will begin his suspension the same day unless he decides to appeal the punishment.
