VERSAILLES, France (AP) — Robert-Jan Derksen shot an 8-under 63 on Thursday to take a three-shot lead after the first round of the French Open.

The Dutchman, who missed tying the course record by one stroke, leads a group of three players that includes defending champion Martin Kaymer of Germany, Spain's Alejandro Canizares and Frenchman Jean Van de Velde.

The event at Le Paris National course features four of the world's top 10 players.

No. 10 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland had a 68, third-ranked Lee Westwood of England and countryman Luke Donald, ranked No. 7, each shot a 70, and eighth-ranked Brit Ian Poulter had a 72.
