BOSTON (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right-hander Carlos Monasterios on the 15-day disabled list with injuries to fingers on his pitching hand.
Vicente Padilla was activated before starting Saturday's game against the Red Sox.
Monasterios is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in six starts. Manager Joe Torre said he had blisters on his middle and index fingers.
Dodgers manager Joe Torre said that he wasn't sure if the Dodgers would call someone up to start next Saturday or if it would be a "bullpen game."
"There's nobody there that we can say is a no-brainer," he said of the Triple-A candidates.
Padilla was on the DL since April 23 because of an inflamed nerve in his right arm.
Torre mentioned that the club has not heard from pitcher Scott Elbert, who was given permission earlier this month to leave Triple-A Albuquerque. Elbert had a two-day call up at the end of May.
Torre said bullpen coach Ken Howell has texted the pitcher and not heard back. Elbert left the club due to a family issue.
"I'm sure the fact he hasn't done well professionally at this point in time sort of magnifies everything else," Torre said. "Sometimes the pressures of this game, especially when they sort of pile up on you, sometimes you just have to get away."
