SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The grandmother of Oakland A's pitcher Dallas Braden offered a short but not so sweet message on the simmering feud between her grandson and New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez.
"Let's forget it...and stick it, A-Rod!" Peggy Lindsey told reporters Sunday after Braden pitched Major League Baseball's 19th perfect game, a 4-0 whitewash of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Braden and Rodriguez have been bickering since Rodriguez walked across the mound with Braden on it following a foul ball during a game last month.
The A's southpaw said Rodriguez violated one of baseball's unwritten rules.
Rodriguez was delighted with Braden's achievement Sunday.
"Good for him. And even better, he beat the Rays," Rodriguez said of the team the Yankees are chasing for the top spot in the American League East.
When asked about Lindsey's remarks, Rodriguez indicated he was tired of the controversy, saying, "Uncle, Uncle."
