NEW YORK (Reuters) - Orlando will host the 2012 NBA All-Star game, the league announced on Tuesday.

It is the second time Orlando has been chosen to host the mid-season event and it will have to deliver something special to top the 1992 game featuring the return of Magic Johnson, who had retired in November 1991 after contracting HIV.

Johnson went one-on-one with Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan during the contest, scoring 25 points to lead the West to a 153-113 win and claim the All-Star MVP award.

Dallas hosted this year's mid-winter showcase while next year's game is scheduled for Los Angeles.
