DETROIT (Reuters) - Brian Rafalski scored a powerplay goal in overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 victory over the Northeast Division leading Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Pavel Dastyuk and Patrick Eaves had scored 73 seconds apart in the first period to give Detroit an early 2-0 lead before Buffalo's Jochen Hecht tied the game in the second period after his second goal of the game.

Sabres' rookie Tyler Myers received a delay of game penalty with just over a minute remaining in the third period, which gave Detroit the extra player and while Buffalo had killed off three earlier power-play opportunities Rafalski made no mistake with his slap shot just 31 seconds into overtime.
