Buyers expect big things from a home that’s been graced by the touch of HGTV personalities like Drew and Jonathan Scott of “Property Brothers” or Chip and Joanna Gaines of “Fixer Upper.”
And the same expectations hold for a home owned by “one of America’s most recognized lifestyle experts,” namely Carter Oosterhouse. Oosterhouse is host of popular home shows including “Trading Spaces,” “Red Hot and Green,” “Million Dollar Rooms,” and “Celebrity Motor Homes.”
Oosterhouse and his wife, actress Amy Smart, recently listed their four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home in Beverly Hills, CA, for $3.8 million.
Beverly Hills real estate watchers will know the price is extremely reasonable for a 4,126-square-foot home on a half-acre of land. The current median list price in the tony city is an eye-popping $4.5 million.

Built in 1954, the exterior looks like it’s been untouched since the couple bought the place in 2012 for $2.5 million. However on the inside, the carpenter’s professional touch was added.
The wood-paneled walls have been painted a soft white, the rock fireplaces were left intact, and the wood floors were polished to a high sheen, all to maintain the home’s original charm, while providing a more modern aesthetic.
The kitchen appears to have been recently updated with a sizable island and breakfast nook. The master bath also shows as almost new, with a walk-in shower, freestanding tub, and antiqued vanities.
The office at the back of the house, with its exposed beams and modern industrial look, appears to be pure Oosterhouse style.
We’re not sure where Oosterhouse and Smart will land next. They’ve been married since 2011 and had their first baby, via surrogate, just last December. Oosterhouse is a partner with his brother Todd in the Bonobo Winery in his native Traverse City, MI. Property records indicate he owns a home in Traverse City—and we’d love to see what he’s done with the place.
