Tyler Perry, the "Madea" series creator never known for understatement, has sold his Atlanta mansion for a city record -- setting $17.5 million in late April, reports say.

According to the listing, the property is "perhaps the most compelling private residence to ever be offered to market in the history of Atlanta."

The 35,000-square-foot, hilltop home features 17 private and pristine acres with substantial Chattahoochee River frontage, infinity-edge swimming pool, hobby house, underground ballroom with catering kitchen, and an entire-estate generator.

Perry built the seven-bedroom house in 2007 and listed it in July for $25 million. The new owner is an "out-of-state buyer," according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which noted that Perry bought the land for $9 million in 2005.

Although Perry sold his Atlanta version of Versailles, he's not done with Georgia by a long shot. The Journal-Constitution reports that he's already acquired 1,000 acres of land in Douglas, a few miles west of Six Flags Over Georgia in the center of the state. Perry also reportedly owns property in metro-Atlanta, where the Tyler Perry Studios campus is located; Beverly Hills, CA; and New York.

Perry -- an actor, producer, director, and playwright -- is best known for creating and performing as Mabel "Madea" Simmons, a no-nonsense, gun-toting, white-haired black woman. His fortune is estimated to be worth $450 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
