News flash: Media entrepreneur John Battelle's Marin mansion is up for grabs. The refined real estate, belonging to one of the Wired magazine founders, is located in Ross, CA, an upscale enclave just north of San Francisco.

The price of admission? $9 million for this posh property.

So what does that kind of price tag get you? A "legacy estate" built in 1906, according to the listing. The old-world architecture is updated with contemporary interiors. With a spacious 6,700 square feet, the home has five bedrooms on the upper floor with separate guest quarters on the lower level.

The home also features a library, gym, music room, and large rooms for entertaining. Many of the main-floor rooms open to decks and parklike grounds.

A co-founder of the Web 2.0 Summit, Battelle is known for his innovative work in the fields of search and advertising. He wrote " The Search," a book about Google, in 2005, and still offers his thoughts on technology, media, and search.

His home is conveniently located in a haven of outdoor activity. You can take a page from Battelle's book, and, just as the author apparently does, prepare to hit the nearby trails on your bike.
