Retired NHL center Craig Janney is ready to face off with the market -- the former hockey star just put his Scottsdale, AZ, home up for sale at $2.4 million.

Built in 2003, the Santa Barbara -- style house is 4,872 square feet and features a library, three bedrooms, and an inset fireplace right outside (yep, outside) the front door. The three-story home has a basement, "which is somewhat unusual for a house in Arizona, but it's becoming more popular," says listing agent Robert Joffe in Phoenix, AZ.

Janney and his wife bought the home in 2013 for $1.62 million. Joffe says the former Bruins star picked the home partly for the neighborhood, Arcadia, which has a "Midwestern feel with lots of grass and not much desert." The home sits on just under an acre of property on a street with only two other homes.

Janney and his wife are likely looking for something smaller. Their daughter is shipping off to college, so they might be downsizing, according to Joffe.
