Billionaire businessman Kirk Kerkorian's mansion in Beverly Hills, CA, is on the market for $22 million. Kerkorian, who died in June at age 98, bought the property in 1998 for $3.5 million.

The 9,732-square-foot, double-gated home has two master suites, six bedrooms, and six bathrooms. Both the living room and dining room of the Mediterranean-style home open to a backyard featuring a tennis court and a guesthouse. Listing agent Vanessa Sandin will show the property to pre-qualified clients.

Kerkorian was the consummate American success story. The son of Armenian immigrants, he parlayed money he made ferrying planes to Britain during World War II into a business empire that began in aviation. He soon was credited with bringing the megaresort concept to Las Vegas.

Kerkorian made his mark building huge hotels in Las Vegas, beginning with the International Hotel in 1969, then the MGM Grand Hotel in 1973, and then the new MGM Grand in 1993. He also bought and sold MGM Studios three times and twice bought and sold United Artists. He made a takeover run at Chrysler and was a major General Motors shareholder at one point.

Forbes named him the 114th richest man in America in 2014 and noted that, before his death, he was the world's second-oldest living billionaire after David Rockefeller, who is 100.

Given his hard-charging business career, Kerkorian probably wouldn't have appreciated finishing second to Rockefeller, but he likely would've enjoyed seeing the profit his estate will realize on the sale of his 90210 mansion.
