Kurds release video of mission that killed U.S. soldier

The autonomous Kurdish government in Iraq released a video that purportedly showed the daring rescue mission of prisoners that resulted in the death of the first U.S. serviceman in Iraq since 2011.

The special mission was an attack on an apparent Islamic State prison set to execute 69 people.

The video shows what appears to be a mixture of U.S. Delta Forces and soldiers from Kurdish Regional Security Council, the Angece France-Presse reports.

According to the KRSC, 48 Kurdish soldiers and 27 U.S. forces participated in the mission.
