House Speaker Paul Ryan spent part of his U.S.-Mexico border visit on Wednesday on horseback.

Video posted to social media by a producer for NBC News showed the Wisconsin Republican riding a brown horse, galloping across a grass field.

Ryan led a small posse of lawmakers to Rio Grande Valley in Texas, in order to survey the border during this week's congressional recess, as the Trump administration works to finalize its immigration plan and ask Congress to fund a wall along the southern border.

Ryan was joined by House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, the chairman of the Homeland Security appropriations subcommittee, and other Homeland Security Department officials.
