The unemployment rate among U.S. veterans dropped to 3.6 percent in November, the lowest rate recorded since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began tracking in November 2006.

The drop in non-working veterans may be the result of a push by the White House and private companies to hire men and women who have recently returned from Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations.

Unemployment among civilians in November was 5.0 percent, tying last month's figure for the lowest rate since President Obama took office.
