Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Monday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that while President Obama felt compelled to give a primetime address to Americans on the rising threat from ISIS, the president continues to do very little to confront the terror group.
“He was told he has to show he thinks this is a problem. His problem since the day he took office, he never wanted to fight the war on terror,” Krauthammer said. “I think, deep down, he believes the war on terror was a gross overreach.”
Krauthammer said the president believes Americans have overreacted to the threat and they have provoked people to radicalize.
“[Obama last night] said if you talk about the Muslims in a bad way, that's a recruiter for ISIS. Guantanamo was a recruiter for ISIS. When the fact is the cruelty and the savagery.... is the recruiter for ISIS,” he said. “[The president] locates the origin of all that recruiting in what we do, and he thinks therefore, the cue is for us to do as little as possible. It’s an insane strategic view of the world, but he actually holds it.”
