U.S. special operations troops are helping rescue hostages, including some Americans, from a hotel in Mali, where an active shooter situation was reported Friday morning.

U.S. Africa Command said in a tweet that it is monitoring the situation closely and that a "small group" of special operations forces are helping with hostage rescue operations.
