Despite recent threats against Washington, D.C., and New York by the Islamic State, FBI Director James Comey said Thursday the federal government is unaware of any planned attack on the U.S.

"We are not aware of any credible threat here of a Paris-type attack and we have seen no connection at all between the Paris attackers and the United States," Comey said in a joint press conference with Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

FBI investigations into terrorism-related issues have gone "up a notch" since the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that killed 129 people.
