Terry Giles, former campaign chairman and long-time friend of presidential candidate Ben Carson, has parted ways with the campaign. Reports indicate it may not have been on good terms.

The Texas businessman's departure from Carson's team came days after the fourth GOP debate Tuesday night and less than two weeks since the former neurosurgeon surged to party front-runner.

"Ben and I agreed that unless he needed me, I was going to go to the sideline and attend to my businesses and reacquaint myself with my wife," Giles said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Although Giles claimed he was taking time off to focus on his 30-odd businesses and his personal life, an anonymous Carson staffer said he was forced out.
