GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee on Wednesday found the “perfect” analogy to big government run amok in the runaway military blimp.

“It’s a perfect example of government,” the former Arkansas governor said of the unmanned blimp during Wednesday night's debate. The blimp broke loose from its ground tether at a military base in Maryland before deflating and landing in central Pennsylvania.

“What we had was something that government made,” Huckabee said. “Basically a bag of gas that cuts loose, destroys everything in its path, leaves thousands of people powerless. But they couldn’t get rid of it because we had too much money invested in it. So we had to keep it.”

The blimp passed above tree lines, dragging along the tether that pulled down power lines.

At one point, more than 20,000 people were without power, but most now have it back.

“That is our government,” Huckabee said. “We saw it in the blimp.”
