Support for the Tea Party movement has dropped to its lowest level ever, five years after Republicans reclaimed control of the House with its help.

According to a new national Gallup poll, just 17 percent of American adults say they are currently Tea Party supporters, compared with 23 percent in November 2010, when it was at its peak. Support for the conservative movement has not topped 25 percent since August 2012, the poll found.

Specifically, support dropped the most dramatically among independents leaning Republican, from 52 percent in 2010 to 23 percent in both 2014 and 2015. Among conservative Republicans, support dropped 21 points, down to 42 percent now from 63 percent in 2010.
