Former Rhode Island Gov. and underdog Lincoln Chafee came out swinging during his introduction at the first Democratic debate Tuesday night.
In his opening statement, Chafee took a thinly veiled shot at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, telling the crowd that he has had "no scandals" and has "high ethical standards." The former Rhode Island senator did not mention Clinton by name during his two minute statement.
"I'm very proud that over my 30 years of public service, I have had no scandals," Chafee told the Las Vegas crowd. "I've always been honest, had the courage to take the longterm view, and I've shown good judgment. I have high ethical standards."
Chafee has consistently been the lowest rated candidate in polling since his 2016 launch, though Harvard professor Larry Lessig has recently taken over that mantle.Read more on WashingtonExaminer.com
