Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Friday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that President Obama’s handling of the situation in Syria is the reason why Russian influence is increasing in the Middle East.

Krauthammer said that when it comes to Syria, Obama is “acting like a faculty club liberal living in a fantasy world,” reacting to the president’s Friday afternoon news conference where Syria was a dominant topic.

“He is the luckiest Russian ever to have drawn an opponent like Obama,” Krauthammer said.

The Russian president is “taking advantage” of Obama’s  response to the deteriorating situation in Syria, according to Krauthammer.

“He [Putin] will [take advantage] for the next 16 months,” he added.
