Krauthammer: Benghazi report author “clearly overstepped”

Charles Krauthammer told viewers Monday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that David Kirkpatrick, author of a New York Times article on the September 2012 attacks in Benghazi, “clearly overstepped” in his report.

The article, published over the weekend, claims Al Qaeda or any other international terror groups were not involved in the attacks that killed four Americans and that an anti-Islam video played a role in the initial wave of attacks.

Many, including Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Mike Rogers, have publicly said the report is not accurate.

Krauthammer points to specific evidence that Kirkpatrick did not refute in coming to his conclusions, including reporting by Fox News.

“Unless he can come out and show us why all of that is untrue, his statement hangs out there as a guess and one that doesn’t look right,” Krauthammer said. “He should have stuck to his own reporting in which case we wouldn’t have the firestorm over this, where clearly he overstepped and clearly what he is saying is not so.”
