Bad day for the NSA. A federal judge ruled its spying program unconstitutional, finally giving document leaker, Edward Snowden, a chance to say, "I told you so."
Snowden said, “I acted on my belief that the NSA's mass surveillance programs would not withstand a constitutional challenge, and that the American public deserved a chance to see these issues determined by open courts. Today, a secret program authorized by a secret court was, when exposed to the light of day, found to violate Americans’ rights. It is the first of many.”
Meanwhile, the billionaire founder and chairman of eBay, Pierre Omidyar, thought it a good time to tweet a Forbes piece about what a smart guy Snowden is.
Omidyar is financing a yet-to-be named journalism venture featuring Glenn Greenwald, who published a series of NSA reports in the Guardian based on documents provided by Snowden.
Greenwald’s Twitter feed has been anything but dull.
The Obama administration defends the program as a much-needed tool to fight terrorism. The Justice Department is far from waiving the white flag. "We believe the program is constitutional as previous judges have found.”

It seems Iowans love Paul Ryan. In the field of potential 2016 candidates, 73 percent of self-described GOPers tell the Des Moines Register they view Ryan either very or mostly favorably.
He needs to tell that to the Democrats on Twitter. Especially after his “Fox News Sunday” interview where he said, “We don’t want nothing out of this debt limit...We are going to decide what it is we can accomplish out of this debt-limit fight.”
A Washington Post liberal columnist tweets in agreement with Rachel Maddow’s producer, Steve Benen.

Why are we -- as a nation -- obsessed with the Trumpster? Donald for president, Donald for mayor, and now … Donald for governor?
The media will never say, “You’re fired” to the Donald. Why? Because we know, no matter what he says, the sound bite is gonna be good.

Katie Couric steps out of her studio and heads off the beaten path for a tour of Gracie Mansion, home to New York governors for generations.
Except, even she finds standing in front of the future Mayor Bill de Blasio’s bed a little creepy, using the hashtag #creepygraciemansiontour.
"@KatieCouric Mayor de Blasio will sleep here! #creepygraciemansiontour"
Maybe that’s why she brought a glass of wine.
But, if it’s so creepy, why does she head to the bathroom??
Whatever happened to the lying, crack-smoking, death threat-giving mayor of Toronto? The Washington Post’s Chris Cilliza reports:
He must be on good behavior for Santa.
