Syndicated columnist George Will said Friday the ongoing fight in Washington over the government shutdown, ObamaCare rollout glitches and the looming debt ceiling deadline are all part of a bigger, longer game.

In his inaugural appearance on Fox News as a contributor on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Will said that President Obama is looking beyond the present problems.

“I think he understands that unless he can generate a huge anti-Republican wave sufficient to take the House next year, he is apt to lose the Senate and his presidency will be neutered," Will said. "This is a very high stakes, longheaded plan on the part of the President.”
