Steve Hayes told viewers Tuesday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that there’s no chance the Navy Yard shooting in Washington, DC will spur the passage of gun control legislation – and the president’s behavior Monday proved he’s not making as serious a push on the issue this time around.
“The fact that President Obama came out and spoke while this was still unfolding suggested to people he was unlikely to take it as seriously as he had after the Gabby Giffords shooting, after the Newtown shooting,” he said.“If he had been treating it that seriously, he presumably wouldn't be out speaking about Syria and the economy and other issues.”
Hayes, a columnist for The Weekly Standard and Fox News contributor, added that as for new gun control legislation, "There's virtually no chance that this would happen."
