As National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden continued to cool his heels in the transit zone at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, waiting to hear a positive response to one of his many asylum requests, he received an unlikely marriage proposal via Twitter from ex-Russian spy Anna Chapman.

The simple message "Snowden, will you marry me?" was posted to Chapman's personal account Wednesday.

The daughter of a Russian diplomat, Chapman came to international attention when she was outed as a member of a Russian spy ring in the summer of 2010. She admitted to being a foreign agent and was deported back to Russia along with nine others as part of a spy exchange.

Since returning to her home country, Chapman has become a minor celebrity, working as a model, becoming the promotional face of a Moscow bank, and joining the leadership group of the youth wing of Russia's main pro-Kremlin party.
